What Should I Do With This?

(picture from here...mine are green!)

These were one of my latest Dollar Tree finds...now I just need to decide what to do with them! I'm thinking maybe something fun during guided reading or math centers...OR something to do with Kagan, since we are a Kagan school and it seems to fit the 4-person model.

Any suggestions? Linking up at Ladybug's Teacher Files!

  1. I usually arrange my class into 5 groups of 4 students or so. I bought 5 thinking I might use them at each group when we play games. It has a place for each of the four students with a center well for other items. I don't know what games yet...but I couldn't resist.

  2. I use mine to sort dice. I have many different kinds of dice and having them sorted makes it easier for the kids to find the right kind.

  5. I use mine for art projects as well and place different types of supplies in each.

  6. Have you gone to Teacher Tipster? He has a great idea for a condiment tray playing a place value game. I posted it on my blog and Sweetpnotes has it on her blog too.

  7. I have some similar ones that I use for sorting objects. I like the idea of the word web though too.

  8. I teach K, so this idea will probably be too simple for your kids, BUT I could the same tray (2 of them). I plan to have kids sort little picture cards by either their beginning or ending sound (write one letter in each of the 4 spaces and keep the picture cards in the middle). You could also have them sort pictures by their word families. Ooh! Or for math, you could have equation cards and then write 4 different "answers" in the 4 holes. Students have the solve the equation and match it with the right answer.

  9. I use these in the center of desk groups for coins to manipulate as we're learning to count money.
